Aisling Heanue
Software Developer Portfolio
Currently working working as a Software Engineer for Adaptemy, where we provide a large variety of customers with cloud-based Adaptive Learning Environments. I work with Express.js and Typescript, and have industry experience writing Go services, as well as experience using Rust for various side projects. I also have experience with deploying production code using Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform and AWS tools.
Education and Work
- November 2025 - Present
Mid-level Software Engineer
Adaptemy
Returning to Adaptemy gives me the opportunity to use my experience gained from my previous role to offer help wherever I can to introduce more up-to-date design principles and technologies with the goal of improving our efficiency and scalability, without compromising on the functionality we currently offer. I also am in contact with customers and can adapt to any changing requirements as they come up.
- September 2023 - October 2025
Cloud Engineer
HP Enterprise
Created and deployed cloud native applications in Go which form part of HPE GreenLake Private Cloud. I learned many vital skills including database management, containerization, and CI/CD pipelines. I was able to take part in the initial design of several services and I learned how to engineer applications from the ground up to be scalable, reliable and maintainable. I also honed my research skills so that any time I joined a project, I was able to take the time to look through its existing code to understand how everything works.
- June 2023 - August 2023
Software Engineering Intern
Adaptemy
Working with Adaptemy gave me my first exposure to working as a software developer. The small team and busy environment meant I was very quickly able to fully immerse myself in the main product of the company, an online learning platform built which uses ExpressJS.
- 2022 - 2023
MSc Computer Science (Negotiated Learning)
University College Dublin
GPA: 3.9/4.2
My master's degree has given me a lot of experience with individual and group coding projects. Some of the modules I got the most value from include Distributed Systems, Advanced Data Structures and Contemporary Software Development.
- 2018 - 2022
BSc Applied and Computational Mathematics
University College Dublin
GPA: 4.06/4.2
I learned many useful problem solving and research skills that I still apply regularly from my undergraduate degree. I was able to use these skills for my final year project on quantum computing algorithms. Some modules included Coding Theory, Advanced Computational Science and Weather Numerical Modelling.
